PROJECTS:

Syria

URGENT APPEAL!

Our friend and colleague Omar Alshakal founder and director of Refugee4Refugees has returned to his homeland of Syria after 13 years in exile. He began his journey elated at the collapse of the horrible regime of Assad and spent the first evening in the square in Damascus celebrating with fellow countrymen.

Then he began his journey home and was truly devastated at the destruction he saw everywhere in Syria. What he reported was so unbelievable and heartbreaking. Reunited with his family he was so sad to see that everyone is very thin and not able to get enough food. His uncle said he had not tasted meat for over a year. The bazaars had very few vegetables for sale. Most people are surviving on bread alone which costs more than their monthly salary.

There is electric only for 1 hour a day and the water is undrinkable. The infrastructure destroyed. He visited the hospital where he witnessed hundreds of people seeking medical care and those hospitalized crowded 7 to 8 in a room and the overflow in the hallways on the floor. Most are cases of chronic conditions untreated for many years and now in a health crisis.

People all over Syria are without basic necessities, particularly food and medicines. Everywhere Omar sees communities struggling to survive. Entire communities are without adequate safe shelter, their homes destroyed by bombs over the last 14 years.

Conflict continues in some areas (Aleppo, Hama ). Bombs continue to be dropped by Israel.
Yet, there is now hope that a new government will be fairly elected The need for assistance is critical now.

We at Hands On Global have worked with Refugee4Refugees for many years. Omar is skilled at organizing humanitarian aide and has done so for many years in the Greek refugee camps, assisting all refugees regardless of nationalities. And now he needs our help in Syria.

The PEOPLE of Syria NEED HELP to first survive and then rebuild. Years of war have left unbelievable devastation.

Hands On Global is appealing to you to support food and medicines for Syrians.

Thank you.
