February 2026, we sent an assessment team to Uganda after the collapse of critical USAID supported medical programs. It is heartbreaking. In the Palabek Refugee Settlement near the Sudanese border, nearly 95,000 refugees fleeing violence, famine, and civil war in Sudan are struggling under desperate conditions. There are only three clinics serving the camp. Medications for malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV are frequently unavailable. Community healthcare workers,  essential to keeping patients alive and compliant with treatment programs, go unpaid because funding has disappeared. Without treatment, tuberculosis spreads. HIV progresses. Children weaken and die from preventable illness. Hands On Global medical team is planning an extended project in Uganda working with Action for Humanity Uganda and Medical Teams International to provide urgently needed primary healthcare at the Palabek Refugee Camp. This camp serves refugees from Sudan and the DRC as well as needy Ugandan citizens. Currently, due to EBOLA, our team has postponed our mission until January 2027. According to the UNHCR, Sudan is now one of the largest humanitarian crises on Earth. Yet much of the world barely notices.
